PESHAWAR: An anti-corruption court dismissed the bail of a senior professor at Bacha Khan University, Charsadda in a fake degree case on Friday. After the verdict, the accused was arrested from the court room and was handed over to Federal Investigation Agency who will later apply for his custody.

While hearing his bail application, the court was informed Fawad Khan said he had a PhD in Computer Science from Paramount University, California and got a job at BKU in Grade-19 on the basis of this degree.

FIA Peshawar circle started investigating after receiving a complaint and found the degree was from a fake university, allegedly run by Axact, an IT company involved in similar scandals in the past. The court was informed a case has also been registered against the BKU vice chancellor and registrar for not scrutinising his degree properly.

The court was told that action would be taken against the accused’s brother who is a judicial magistrate and attested his documents. The accused filed an application for interim bail which was rejected by the court after hearing the arguments.
