KARACHI: One would have to rack their brains to recall the last time Aamir Saleem was in the recording studio but now, the pop singer of the ‘90s is all set to get back into the groove. He is currently gearing up for the release of three remix versions of his acclaimed tracks Zindagi Bina Tere Ek Saza Hogayi and Ajnabi. The third track will be Aamir’s rendition of the Muhammad Rafi classic, Kya Hua Tera Wada. In fact, he is expected to go on a full-fledged tour to United States around May.

Speaking with The Express Tribune, the musician shed light on why he chose to remix old tracks instead of recording new ones. “These are not like run-of-the-mill remixes most people are accustomed to,” said Aamir. “This is my way of revisiting the classics.” According to him, the songs are unplugged versions of their previous iterations. “A lot of people had been requesting me to release new songs. This is why I decided to return to the studio once again,” added Aamir. The songs have been remixed by pianist Suleman Rehmani and are expected to be out next month.

Having made a steady name back in the day, Aamir has maintained a low profile for quite some time. While he was keen on offering proper music videos along with the songs, a lack of sponsorships forced him to resort to an online release. “Since there’s only one proper music channel right now, I am just going to release a very basic music video which will show me performing in the studio.” During an earlier interview, Aamir had stated he would be contributing two tracks to a movie being directed by Australian-Pakistani film-maker Rafiq Chaudhry. Unfortunately, the project was shelved after lead actors Sajjal Ali and Feroze Khan left the project. He is also in talks about giving music for another film project but nothing has materealised as yet.
