Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Atif Khan and representatives of the Pakistan Reading Project distributed 713 tablets among teachers of various schools in Mardan Thursday morning.
An event was held at Government Higher Secondary School Baghdada where Pakistan Reading Project’s Barbara Toye-Welsh, Muhammad Atif, tehsil nazim Haji Ayub Khan, DEO Siraj Muhammad and other prominent members of the government were in attendance. The tablets were distributed to teachers based on their performance at the school.
In her address, Toye-Welsh said the aim of the reading project is to provide 23,800 tablets to the teachers across the province. While appreciating the work of the teachers, Muhammad Atif said, “Teachers are promoted purely based on merit. Only an educated teacher can teach and bring about positive change.”
The tablets are Intel Viper and include tutorials, e-books, flash cards, workbooks and other software to help with teaching in classrooms.
