One injured in grenade attack on ARY News in Islamabad

Daesh Afghanistan – an acronym for the self-styled Islamic State group – has claimed responsibility for the attack

One man was injured on Wednesday after unidentified men hurled a grenade at ARY News office in Islamabad.

According to Express News, two masked men threw a grenade at an office of ARY News channel in the capital, injuring one media person who was is said to be a non-linear editor in the private TV channel.

Daesh Afghanistan – an acronym for the self-styled Islamic State group – has claimed responsibility for the attack, as reported by ARY News.

The injured staffer has been shifted to the hospital whereas security agencies have cordoned off the area.

Earlier in December last year, a small home-made explosive device (cracker) was hurled at the offices of Express Media Group on Monday evening with the resulting blast injuring a security guard and damaging a number of vehicles.

At least two unidentified men riding on a motorcycle had approached the Express office on University Road at about at about 5:15pm in the evening and hurled the cracker over the closed gate before fleeing. It exploded with a loud bang and the ball bearings within injured security guard Sher Muhammad, and damaged a door, an office van and a number of parked motorcycles.

ISPR condemns attack

Meanwhile, the ISPR condemned the attack, saying such acts could not deter the nation’s resolve to eliminate terrorism.

“We firmly stand united with our media fraternity in our collective effort of bringing enduring peace and security to Pakistan.”
