PESHAWAR:

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) provincial ameer Mushtaq Ahmad Khan said the ongoing issue between Saudi Arabia and Iran is a conspiracy to plunge the Muslim community into Sunni-Shia sectarian divide. He demanded Pakistan should play the role of a mediator.

He said this in an address on Tuesday while talking to the participants of the two-day-long Majlis-e-Shura meeting of his party.

JI provincial and district leaders as well as members of national and provincial assemblies were present. Mushtaq said Iran and Saudi Arabia should settle their issues on the negotiating table or else their differences would divide the entire Muslim community. He said JI would support every step if a peaceful solution between both Islamic nations is reached.

Speaking on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he said this was not only a road, rather a golden opportunity that would change the fate of coming generations. Therefore, any change in the original plan would not be accepted.
