Deaths in Tharparkar not due to drought, says Sindh CM
Shah asks how government can know about every child in desert area where communication is a major problem

Tharparkar is in the news once again over the death of children reportedly from drought. However, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah believes the facts are being exaggerated.
Speaking at an oath-taking ceremony at the Malir Bar Association on Tuesday, he said “Aap insaf karien [Please, do justice…],” emphasising how the government can know about every child in the desert area where communication is a major problem.
Deaths in thar: No drought-like situation: food minister
Shah shared he recently watched a news report on the demise of a newborn in Ghulam Muhammad village of Thar. “Will the government get a revelation about the birth of a child?” he questioned, adding that in the remote area usually the ‘dais’ [midwives] deliver babies and that creates complications.
If there was a drought or lack of health care facilities, men and women would also have suffered equally, he claimed.
Shah was the chief guest at the event, while Sindh High Court judge, Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh, presided over as the guest of honour.

Justice Sheikh took oath from the new executive cabinet of the Malir bar. The executive cabinet comprises president Aijaz Bangash, vice-president Pir Shafiqur Rehman, general secretary Rao Zahid Ali, joint secretary Khalid Hussain Rajpar, treasurer Farman Ali Gopang and librarian Abdul Hafeez Niazi as librarian.
