Nabbed: Police arrest TTP ‘recruiters’

Police said that they had worked under the name of Ghalba-i-Islam organisation in various areas of south Punjab

Vehari police claimed on Monday to have arrested two terrorists from Mitru.


According to the FIR, the accused work for Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).


“Ataullah, a resident of Maachiwal, and Qari Yasin, a resident of Mitru, were arrested in a joint-operation by police and intelligence agencies. They used to recruit people for the TTP and send them to Afghanistan for training,” police said. Police said that the suspects had confessed to recruiting and sending 10 people to Afghanistan.


Police said that they had worked under the name of Ghalba-i-Islam organisation in various areas of south Punjab. A security official said that the arrests were part of a major crackdown launched against extremists in south Punjab.
