Trilateral dialogue: Curtain raiser opens the dialogue

ISLAMABAD:

The third round of the China-Afghanistan-Pakistan Trilateral Dialogue being held in Islamabad on January 11 will focus on the role of China and Pakistan in finding a peaceful resolution to the Afghan conflict.

This was announced by Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed at the curtain raiser of the trilateral talks on Saturday.

Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz will be the keynote speaker at the session, with both the Chinese and Afghan ambassadors invited to speak.

Panellists at the conference will include Dr Muhammad Khan of the National Defence University, Andrew Small author of “The China-Pakistan Axis”, Senator Afrasiab Khattak, Deputy Leader of the National Islamic Front of Afghanistan Sayed Hamed Gailani, and Prof Li Xiguang of Tsinghua University, Beijing

Two rounds of the conference were previously held in Beijing in 2013 and Islamabad in 2014.
