U18 National Snooker Championship: Shafiq rallies to book last-eight berth

Inaugural event’s quarter-final matches will be played on Sunday

KARACHI: Waqas Shafiq came back from two frames down to win 4-3 against Usman Ahmed in their last-16 match of the 1st Jubilee Insurance National U18 Snooker Championship being played in Lahore.

It was Usman who started off on a good note as he pipped Shafiq in the first two frames. However, Waqas managed to win by overall scores of 51-55, 01-68, 59-27, 72-27, 17-68, 53-18, 49-25, while William Lafforgue beat Farhan Khan 4-1.

Haris Tahir also recovered to win 4-2 against Muhammad Salik by scores of 24-55, 73-28, 63-20, 77-26, 47-64, 69-4.

U18 national snooker event reaches last-16

Meanwhile, Umar Farooq received a walkover against Uzair Khan and Muzammil Khan triumphed 4-2 against Saud Khan as Umar Khan registered a comfortable 4-1 victory against Shahzaib Malik, while Sameerul Hassan thumped Mohammad Faraz 4-0 by scores of 51-16, 71-01, 61-27, 59-20.
