Over 20 suspects arrested following search operation in Quetta over attacks on police officials

QUETTA/ GWADAR: At least two security personnel were killed and three others were injured on Saturday in a landmine explosion in Gwadar's Jewani area.

"Coast Guard personnel in Jewani area were on routine patrolling when their convoy hit a landmine," a security official said.

"Abdullah and Kishwar died on the spot while three others received serious injuries," the source added. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for immediate treatment.

20 suspects arrested in Quetta

Separately, 20 suspects were arrested in a Frontier Corps (FC) search operation in various parts of Quetta on Saturday.

The suspects allegedly involved in targeted attacks on police officials. "The suspects are in police custody and a case has been registered against them on behalf of SHO Gawalmanid Hakim Wazir," a police official said.

According to reports, raids were conducted by security forces in Kasi road, Balochi street and PS Gawalmandi among several other areas.

Two police personnel were shot dead on Friday when unidentified armed men opened fire at them outside a mosque in Quetta’s Multani Muhala. According to initial reports, police officials died on the spot when armed men fired at them. Another policeman was seriously injured during the firing.
