KARACHI: Veteran Bollywood actor Om Puri is all set to appear in his first Pakistani film, Actor In Law. The project features Fahad Mustafa and Mehwish Hayat in lead roles.
The film is being directed and produced by Na Maloom Afraad duo Nabeel Qureshi and Fizza Ali Meerza, respectively. Speaking to The Express Tribune, Fizza confirmed news of starring the Bollywood actor in the upcoming film. "Yes, Om Puri is part of the cast and we have already started filming."
The duo's joint venture features an ensemble cast which includes Rehan Sheikh, Talat Hussain and Don 2 actor Aly Khan.
The cast and crew of the film also had an interactive session with media at the Meet and Greet event held in Karachi on January 9.

The special guest from across the border, Om Puri, praised the team saying, "Fizza and Nabeel came up with a very unusual script. The whole team is very talented."
Talking about his Pakistani film debut, he said, "I didn't know this team personally when I was approached for the film. But I was aware of the fact that Pakistani films have improved a lot."
He also shared that he signed the film because the script was different. "The theme of the script is very unique and clever as the title itself suggests," he said without divulging in details.

Leading lady Mehwish claimed that her character in the upcoming film is "different" and something she has "never done before".
Sharing further details about the film, she said, "It is mindless social comedy, but a no-nonsense film."
Fahad, who also played the lead in Na Maloom Afraad, introduced himself as the "Actor in Law". "It is a very important film in terms of my career," he said.
"Pakistan has a lot of stories to tell the world. It is a refreshing story that highlights a lot of social issues with a little bit of humour," he added.
‘Tougher for the young girls who come to the film industry’
Producer Fizza revealed that apart from the ensemble cast, some other big names will also be seen in her second production. "It will be a big surprise for everyone as people have agreed to be a part of the film even for one dialogue and scene. It is amazing, hats off to them," she said.
She also shared her excitement for having Om Puri on board. "It's a proud moment that will last with us till we turn his age," she said.
Director Nabeel shared that first spell of the shoot is about to end and the film is slated to release this year on Eidul Azha.
