PM’s directive: FPCCI asks NEPRA to cut power tariff
Urges regulator to issue the necessary notification

Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Senior Vice President Khalid Tawab has urged the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) to issue a notification for the reduction of Rs3 per unit in the electricity tariff of K-Electric.
“We are concerned because directives of the prime minister about new electricity prices for industries are not being implemented,” he said in a press release on Tuesday.
Tawab expressed dismay over delay in compliance with orders of the prime minister for the reduction in electricity price for industries across the country, which was applicable from January 1, 2016.
He said the premier’s directives should be immediately implemented so that its benefits could be passed on to consumers without any delay.
“Slashing the price of electricity will help in bringing down the cost of almost all products, mainly consumer items, and will also have a positive impact on industrial growth,” he added.
Tawab said the industries in Karachi were currently facing huge difficulties and the reduction in power tariff would provide much-needed relief to them.
“This will go a long way towards revival of the industrial sector and will also prove to be a milestone in efforts aimed at augmenting the declining exports and the revival of closed units.”
