RAWALPINDI:

Pickpockets on Monday picked purse of a passenger coming from Dubai at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIA).

According to an airport official, Adnan Hussain arrived at BBIA close to 11am from Dubai, and claimed that his handy purse was missing.

The official said Hussain, a resident of Islamabad, claimed that his purse contained 700 dirhams, 950 pounds, jewellery, a credit card, and other documents.

On Hussain’s complaint, airport security staff examined CCTV footage and observed that an unidentified pickpocket had taken Adnan’s purse and handed it over to a woman. The source said that the CCTV footage was not clear and the woman could not be identified.

Later, Hussain reported the matter to the Police post inside the airport. When contacted, SI Arshad, in-charge of the Airport Police Post, said the police had received no such complaint. The official however insisted that Hussain had reported the matter to the police.

Later, Inspector Chaudhry Jamil, SHO of the Airport Police, said they had received the complaint and would register an FIR after completing preliminary investigations.
