The police department on Sunday removed Mughalpura SHO from his post over his failure to arrest a notorious drug-peddler.
According to the department, SHO Malik Shahbaz had led a raid to arrest drug-peddler Khurram Butt. The police party faced severe resistance from Butt’s family.
They tore off the policemen’s uniforms. Meanwhile, Butt escaped from his residence.
Operations DIG Haider Ashraf took notice of the incident and ordered Shahbaz’s removal from his post.
A departmental inquiry is to follow.
