Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Dr Tahirul Qadri claimed on Sunday the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government was “importing Islamic State fighters” to undermine the ongoing military offensive.

“The government is allowing the import of the Islamic State militant group in Pakistan to undermine the ongoing military operation, Zarb-e-Azb, against terrorists and their abettors,” the PAT chief said, while addressing the media in Lahore.

Vocal critic: PAT claims govt uninterested in implementing NAP

Slamming the government over its “corrupt agenda”, Qadri warned the PML-N led government of another sit-in.

The PAT chief also threatened to besiege Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Jati Umra residence in Raiwind, while demanding justice for the victims of the Model Town tragedy. “We want peace and stability in Pakistan but some elements are testing our patience,” he said quashing rumours of an alleged deal with the government over the Model Town incident.

Further, Qadri informed his party workers that he went abroad owing to international engagements due to his Islamic mission.

Qadri said his party will continue to struggle for the restoration of peace and prosperity in the country, adding it was the only reason he did not indulge into politics of agitation after the killing of his party workers in Model Town.

Imran Khan expresses ‘shock’ over Model Town JIT report

However, the PAT supremo demanded that the Model Town case should be transferred to military courts, saying justice can only be served if strict action is taken against the perpetrators of terror.

Last month, the PAT had expressed grave concern over the government’s apparent lack of interest in implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorism. “The government is more interested in construction contracts. The banned [militant] outfits are reemerging. The 20-point NAP has been put aside for unknown reasons. It had called for action against armed militias, revamping of criminal justice system and dealing sternly with banned outfits,” the party said in a report about the government’s yearly performance.

Model Town violence: ‘PAT will continue struggle to get justice’

Earlier this month, the party requested Army chief General Raheel Sharif to apprehend the facilitators, the mastermind and the perpetrators of the violence in Model Town last year.

On June 17, 2014, at least 14 workers of Qadri’s party were killed and 90 were in injured in clashes with police in Model Town, Lahore. A joint investigation team probing the deadly clashes held 10 police officers responsible, while giving a clean chit to the prime minister and the Punjab chief minister.

I have never understood how a Canadian and a UK citizen could lead two of Pakistan’s political parties. Maybe Pakistan should enact a law which insures that if your going to lead a political party you have to give up your foreign citizenship? Recommend

He’s got the support of the establishment. There’s something cooking now that he’s back. PTI & PAT are sisters trying to undermine Institutions to get into power supported by that well-known evil behind the scenes power.Recommend

They say religion forbids you from telling lies, fabrications, false accusations, and making up stories against your adversaries. But Tahir Qadri is doing all that . Listen to his statements, I mentioned in line 1 above.

If Islam has received a bad name in the West and elsewhere it is because of people like him.He is a con-man in the garb of a religious leader. Religiosity has not even a skin deep in his case.

He is in Pakistan on annual ‘money collection’ spree and fool poor , vulnerable and misguided people.

Law on double nationality is very clear. His adopted nationality of Canada is taken by him by choice which takes precedence over the other which he did not opt for but got by default. It should be abrogated and be deported to his preferred domicile country. Recommend

I am no longer surprised by comments on Pakistani talk shows. If a politician in Pakistan can lay such allegations, limit of absurdity, then, Pakistani anchors, describing Pathankot terrorist attack as DRAMA and being done by Indian government is at least, sub-par with this idiocy.Recommend

The preposterous claims of this man who lives abroad but loves to create mischief in Pakistan makes no sense. I think that any nation in the world would look at his incitement of his party workers to attack police as grounds for arrest. Tahrul Qadri is responsible for the tragic loss of life of poor party workers who were egged on to attack law enforcement. Tahirul Qadri should be taken to the court and charged for trying to create unrest and anarchy. I am sure that if he tried his dharna style rabble rousing in Canada, he would be charged but somehow he thinks he can get away with it in Pakistan. The media needs to expose this man for what he is.Recommend
