In another attack on the Obama administration, Trump said on Saturday that the policies of President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton created the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group.
“They’ve created Isis. Hillary Clinton created ISIS with Obama,” Trump said while speaking at his latest campaign rally in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Trump added that Obama should have taken his advice to seize the oil assets controlled by the militant group. “I’ve predicted a lot of things, you have to say, including, ‘Get the oil, take the oil, keep the oil.’ Right? I’ve been saying that for three years, and everybody said, ‘Oh, I can’t do that. I mean, this is a sovereign country. There is no country!”
The Republican presidential candidate also accused Iran of trying to take over Saudi Arabia, referring to the attack on the Saudi embassy in Tehran following the execution of 47 Shia prisoners in Saudi Arabia, including the prominent cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr.
“In Tehran, they’re burning down the Saudi embassy, you see that? Now, what that is is Iran wants to take over Saudi Arabia. They always have. They want the oil, OK? They’ve always wanted that,” he said.
Trump denied to comment on the terrorist group al Shabaab’s propaganda video, released on Friday, which featured footage of him calling for Muslims to be banned from the US.
However, in an interview with CBS on Saturday, he said, “I have to say what I have to say. And you [know] what I have to say? There’s a problem. We have to find out what is a problem. And we have to solve that problem.”
Further, Trump lashed out at the media, saying the press was “so damn unfair … terrible”.
Last month, Trump made a personal attack on Hillary Clinton in which he criticised her for what he branded a “disgusting” bathroom break.
The frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination, who has made a string of incendiary comments on the campaign trail, said Clinton got “schlonged” by Barack Obama.
