Crime and punishment: 983 people arrested in Lower Dir in 2015

DPO Qasim Ali Khan said four proclaimed offenders and 130 suspects were arrested

TIMERGARA: At least 983 people were arrested during search operations in Lower Dir in 2015. This was stated in a report released by the Lower Dir DPO and Timergara SHO. Speaking to journalists on Thursday, DPO Qasim Ali Khan said four proclaimed offenders and 130 suspects were arrested. Around 727 people were arrested for violating various sections of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 107 people were taken into custody for not paying challans and 15 others were arrested for using illegal vehicles. “Three Kalashnikovs, a rifle, 37 pistols, 2 repeaters, 27,330 grammes of hashish, 8,925 grams of opium and a litre of liquor were confiscated,” he said. “Five cases were registered against those who violated the foreigners act.”
