Senate question-hour: Govt cancelled over 2,000 passports

The passports were cancelled through a system under present government on the instructions of the interior ministry

ISLAMABAD: The government claims to have cancelled over 2,000 official passports issued to unentitled persons prior to 2013, under the authorisation of then secretary interior. These statistics came to light in the question-hour of the Senate on Thursday. The passports were cancelled through a system under present government on the instructions of the interior ministry, said Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar. On a question about earnings from freight trains during the year 2013-14, Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique informed the house that Pakistan Railways, during the said fiscal, loaded 76,307 wagons against loading of 46,617 wagons in the corresponding period of year 2012-13.
