RAWALPINDI:

A man was killed and six others were injured in a clash between two groups of cattle suppliers in the Lal Kurti area of Rawalpindi on Thursday.

According to the police, two groups of cattle suppliers — one led by Pervaiz and Arif, residents of Chungi No-22, and the other led by Ikhlaq Kiani, a resident of Rawat — clashed outside a slaughterhouse after exchange of hot words over the pricing issue of the cattle.

According to the police, one group was offering a low price, which triggered the clash between the two groups.

During the clash, men of Arif and Pervaiz opened fire on their rivals resulting in the death of Ikhlaq Kiani, and injuries to Hasnat, Siddiqui, Hassan Akhtar, Zaheer, Ajmal, and Abdul Jabbar.

Sub-Inspector Amjad, who is investigating the case, said that the two groups had a scuffle on Wednesday but reached a compromise.

The official said that police will register a case of the incident after receiving a written complaint from the aggrieved party besides a postmortem report of the dead from the hospital. He said that the assailants had fled before the police reached the crime scene.
