Narcotics: Two held for drug peddling

ISLAMABAD:

Two drug peddlers were arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) following a shootout near Sial Mor Interchange on Wednesday.

An ANF official lost his life in the shootout. About 109.2 kilogrammes of charas and 26.4 kilogrammes of opium was seized from the suspects.

Initial investigation revealed that the suspects were heading towards Lahore to deliver the consignment.

The investigators recovered fake civil service identity cards from the possession of the suspects.

An ANF official said the drugs taken into custody were worth Rs296 million in the international market.

He said the ANF had chased a vehicle driven by the suspects after they refused to stop for a security check on the Motorway interchange near Sial Mor. He said after driving for a few miles, the suspects left the car and ran into a nearby field.

The ANF team was helped by another team from the Faisalabad police to catch the suspects.

Separate cases were registered by Faisalabad Saddar, Pindi Bhattian and the anti-narcotics force police stations in the city.
