ABU DHABI: This is with reference to your report of January 11 titled “Sultan Masjid imam accused of inciting hatred against Sherry Rehman”.
In the past, I have heard the imam’s sermons on several occasions. At least once, I heard him tell the congregation that whoever doesn’t say his prayers is not a Muslim and that such people are not entitled to a Muslim burial and a namaz-i-janaza.
What scared me the most was that he is an imam at a mosque in a very affluent area and one can only imagine what will happen if even one individual acted on his words — since many homes in DHA have drivers, guards and chowkidars.
