Discomforting discovery: Armaments retrieved from canal

FAISALABAD: Police claimed on Tuesday to have recovered a rocket launcher and a gun from the Jhang Branch Canal near Chak-376JB in Toba Tek Singh. Saddar SHO Ali Raza told newsmen that the canal had earlier been closed for annual repair, maintenance and cleaning work. The official said people had spotted the armaments lying on the canal bed after water had been drained from it. Raza said police, bomb disposal squad and civil defence teams had rushed to the spot after being tipped-off regarding the development.  The SHO said police had seized the armaments and defused the rocket launcher. ascertaining how the armaments had gotten where they had been retrieved from.
