LAHORE:

More than 100 schools are collaborating to exchange new year cards between students of Knowledge Inn Preparatory School (KIPS), Lahore, and Carmel Convent School (CCS), Chandigarh, India.

The exchange is being organised by Yuvsatta (Youth for Peace), an NGO based in Chandigarh, as part of an annual Global Youth Peace Fest in Chandigarh, a press statement said. Aliya Harir, the youth ambassador of change appointed by Yuvsatta in Pakistan, said the aim of this exchange was to strengthen virtues of nonviolence and friendship in young minds. She said the move aimed to revive traditions for developing new connections between peoples of India and Pakistan.

Guided by Ritu Yadav, a teacher at CCS, and Namra Nasir, the KIPS head of research and development, the students have made more than 200 cards and letters carrying messages of peace, love and friendship for their friends across the border.

Namra Nasir said, “Wishes and prayers always spread a positive aura, no matter where they come from.”
