National Flag Carrier: ‘PIA privatisation should be discussed in NA’

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Sirajul Haq has asked the federal government to bring the matter of the privatisation of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to the National Assembly (NA) for discussion. While talking to the media at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, Sirajul Haq said that the finance minister Ishaq Dar had said in his letter that all the four provinces have showed agreement to privatise PIA. He demanded the government withdraw the Presidential Ordinance about the airline’s privatisation in the national interest and bring the matter for discussion in the NA. The mounting pressure of our lenders, including World Bank and International Monetary Fund, to privatise PIA should be rejected, JI urged.
