KARACHI: Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah's 139th birth anniversary is being celebrated across the country on Friday with fervour and zeal.

Declared as a public holiday, the day began with a change of guard ceremony at the Quaid’s mausoleum in Karachi with Commandant PMA Major Gen Nadeem Raza was the guest of honour.

Jinnah was born on December 25, 1876, in Karachi.

The cadets from the Pakistan Military Academy Kakul assumed guard's duty at the mausoleum where Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad along with Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and members of the provincial cabinet were also present to place wreaths and offer Fateha.

Further, while the national anthem was played by a military band, President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif addressed the ceremony, paying tribute to the founder.
