Line of fire: Two killed in Mardan

The incident was triggered by a long-standing dispute between the victim and the assailants

At least two men were allegedly killed in a firing incident within the jurisdiction of Saddar police station in Mardan on Thursday.


The incident was triggered by a long-standing dispute between the victim and the assailants.


Khan Zeb told the police he was having dinner with a group of friends when Ashfaq, Majid and Shahid stormed in and opened fire on them.


As a result, 18-year-old Imran and 20-year-old Afgan died on the spot. Khan Zeb remained unhurt.


The accused managed to flee after committing the crime. According to initial reports, the deceased were shot in the head and chest.


The police have registered an FIR and further investigation into the incident is under way.


In a separate incident, a man was killed while two others were wounded in a road accident in Mardan.


According to a police official, three men were on their way to Peshawar from Sakhakot when the incident occurred. The driver lost control of the vehicle and it plunged into a river near New Ada Mardan.


A rescue team reached the spot and rushed them to the hospital.


The deceased was identified as Riaz. The other two men suffered minor injuries.
