An opening 63-run stand by man of the match Michael Lumb and a 62-run knock by Sydney Sixers skipper Moises Henriques ensured the visitors’ three-wicket win over hosts Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League in Melbourne on Wednesday.

Electing to field first, Sydney were given a target of 173 runs as Chris Gayle (46), Dwayne Bravo (45 not out) and Tom Beaton (41 not out) combined to make 172 for Melbourne.

Doug Bollinger, Henriques, Sean Abbott and Johan Botha claimed one scalp apiece.

In reply, Lumb and Henriques stood firm in an otherwise shaky start by the visitors — with only two batsmen apart from the duo getting into double figures — and led Sydney to their eventual victory.
