Pakistan has better chances of economic growth by adapting to the Framework Agreement on Climate Change

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has better chances of economic growth by adapting to the `Framework Agreement on Climate Change,’ rather than going against it, says Professor of Economics Tariq Banuri at the University of UTAH, USA. In his special lecture on ‘Sustainable Development Goals, after the Paris Agreement,’ organized by Sustainable Development Policy Institute. He added that if the agreement were not adopted now, it would become difficult to get any assistance in the face of climate related disasters, according to a press release. He said the agreement signed by 187 countries out of 198, was a breakthrough as it brought accord on keeping global goal of warming between 2 and 1.5 degree Celsius. It also emphasized global peaking as soon as possible to reach a balance between global emissions and sinks by second half of the century.
