SWABI: Local government representatives from Tordher union council held a protest on Tuesday over the district administration as it failed to provide them with any office space.

They also accused the tehsil nazim of forcibly occupying a building that is the property of the municipal committee.

While addressing protesters at the main bazaar in Tordher, District Councillor Zubair Khan and nazims Maulana Faizul Hasan and Syed Al-Ibrar said the ownership of the Tordher municipal committee’s office lies with the union council. However, the tehsil nazim occupied the building by force and established his own office and that of the municipal committee, they argued. The officials added that an extra room had also been handed to the revenue officer.”

On the occasion, the protesters warned they would continue their agitation till their demands are met.

Meanwhile, General Councillor Ziaur Rehman won a by-election for Maneri Payan–3 union council. Speaking to the media, Rehman said he will serve people with honesty and will not let any hurdle affect his commitment. He demanded the government to provide funds and the authority to local government representatives.
