Dalbandin encounter: FC troops kill militant, foil arms smuggling bid

The exchange of fire continued for three hours after which FC officials took weapons filled vehicle in their custody

Frontier Corps (FC) soldiers, in conjunction with intelligence officials, intercepted a group of militants trying to smuggle weapons from Afghanistan into the border town of Dalbandin.


An alleged terrorist was killed in the encounter and a pickup loaded with rifles, bullets and RPGs was captured.


According to the FC spokesman, the paramilitary force acting on a tip-off hailed the suspected pick-up, however, the people on-board the vehicle started firing. The FC men returned fire, killing a terrorist.


The exchange of fire continued for three hours after which FC officials took weapons filled vehicle in their custody. The cargo bed of the pickup was loaded with 10 Kalashnikovs, 10 rocket-propelled grenades (RPG), 10 RPG fuse, a rocket launcher, 30 hand grenades, 20 hand grenade fuses and a sniper rifle.


FC spokesperson said that the arms were being brought from across the border for a terror bid in Makran divsion.
