ISLAMABAD:

As part of a security plan, the Islamabad Police have cancelled leaves of police personnel ahead of three events — Christmas, Eid Miladun Nabi and New Year.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Sajid Kiani said that over 3,000 police personnel will perform duties as leave of the police staff has been cancelled till December 31. “All police personnel will remain on duty till December 31 to perform security duties,” he said, according to a press release issued here on Monday.

He said that all Senior Superintendents of police and SHOs have been directed to increase patrolling in their respective areas. “We have also placed extra force outside Churches and important buildings,” Kiani said adding that female constables, personnel of special branch and elite force will also perform duties on the eve of New Year.

Kiani said the police have been directed to take action against those involved in wheeling on the eve of the New Year.
