LAHORE:

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Revenue Haroon Akhter has said that a committee will be constituted soon to address reservations of the business community about SRO 608.

Talking to a delegation of businessmen, Akhter said the business community was the backbone of the economy and the government was utilising all resources to resolve at the earliest the issues faced by the business community.

Laws against harassment at workplace remain impotent

Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad highlighted the key challenges hampering economic activities in the country and sought the government’s help for their early resolution. Arshad said the Federal Board of Revenue was misusing Section 38 of the Sales Tax Act as officials of the sales tax department were using such tactics that create an atmosphere of harassment.
