KARACHI:

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement's (MQM) nominee for deputy mayor, Arshad Vohra, has warned they may start a movement for the restoration of the powers of the local government system. "To get proper rights and powers of the local government system, we will struggle, and if need may be, we may start a movement," said Vohra at Lal Qila Ground on Wednesday evening. The party held special prayers for the Peshawar school attack victims as well as for the victims of the 1971 war, which led to the separation of East Pakistan. Vohra said that his party will solve the issues of Karachi, which includes power and water crises and cleanliness and sanitation. He alleged that the provincial and federal governments have control over Karachi's resources and have snatched the rights of the people.
