Low-quality textbooks

The officers concerned of the education department are not obeying CM Punjab's directives of textbook printing

RAWALPINDI: The chief minister of Punjab has instructed that all school and college textbooks be printed on 68-gramme, good quality paper and with good quality printing ink, but the officers concerned of the education department are not obeying the said directives. They continue to print on 65-gramme, low quality news print sheets.

Private school systems use a higher quality of printed paper. That is part of the reason private schools have higher standards and better student performance. However, our government school system continues to use poor quality textbooks. The serious notice taken by the Punjab chief minister in this regard is most appreciated, but I would advise him to take drastic actions against all publishers, especially those in Urdu Bazaar, Lahore, who print on poor quality paper and sell books at costly rates.
