Taazi set to transfer proceeds from Ali Zafar’s single to TCF project in memory of APS victims

KARACHI: A year has passed since the harrowing Army Public School (APS) attack took place in Peshawar but the grief it has caused will remain till eternity. Among the artists who paid a tribute to the victims was Ali Zafar, who released his multi-starrer single Urainge earlier this year. Proceeds from the song, which amounted to Rs0.2 million alone through sales on online music-streaming platforms such as iTunes and Taazi, are soon to be transferred to The Citizen’s Foundation (TCF).

“This is a huge amount considering most songs today are pirated and have little to no legal sales,” musician and Taazi founder Haroon told The Express Tribune. “I, along with the whole nation, was devastated by this vile act. Ali Zafar reacted by creating this amazing initiative, the beautiful song and video for Urainge,” he added.



According to him, the revenue generated from the song will be directed towards the TCF project named 141 schools, which aims at making schools in memory of the victims. Ali also posted a video message on his official Facebook page, stating, “The events of December 16 have affected every Pakistani. In the wake of these attacks, we made the decision to construct 141 schools in memory of the deceased.”

Haroon encouraged people to continue purchasing the song for Rs10 on online portals, with all proceeds being donated to TCF. The foundation has already constructed 23 schools as part of the initiative.
