Behind bars: Police arrest alleged rapist

The police on Tuesday arrested a man for allegedly raping a woman in Ali Town on Adiala Road.


The woman* was allegedly kidnapped from Pirwadhai while she was returning home from the factory in Islamabad where she worked.


Police said she was taken to a house in Ali Town in a taxi and raped there by the suspect*, who hails
from Bahawalnagar and works in Rawalpindi as a labourer. Police said the victim was left at District Headquarters Hospital after the crime.


The police were still waiting for a medical report when this report was filed on Tuesday evening.


Sub-inspector Asif Ali Shah, the investigation officer, said the suspect had been arrested and would be produced before a court on Thursday.


Shah said the suspect and the victim had been in contact through mobile phone for the last few months.
