Robbery suspect killed in shootout

Police said one of the men was killed and another was badly injured

A robbery suspect was killed and another suspect was injured in a police encounter in Jhang Bazaar precinct early Monday morning.


A police spokesperson told reporters that Jhang Bazaar SHO Sub Inspector Muhammad Afzal and his team were on a routine patrol. He said they saw three men riding a motorcycle near Utility Store Sewerage Drain at around 4:30am and stopped to inquire. However, he said, the men tried to flee. “The police chased them till Shehbaz Town Pulli and surrounded them.” However, the men shot at the police vehicle and a shootout ensued. Police said one of the men was killed and another was badly injured. The third man had managed to flee. He said the police seized their motorcycle, which did not have a number plate, and a pistol from the men.  The injured man was identified as Rana Ali Raza, son of Naseer Ahmad Khan, a resident of Chak 224-RB in Mohallah Nasir Nagar. The deceased was identified as Sangraiz alias Rana Sanni, son of Babar Hussain Khan, a resident of Kachi Abadi Ali Pura, Sammundri Road, Faisalabad.
