The striker had come in for some unfair stick in recent times but has been scoring goals for run since returning to the starting line-up.

He further upped his game just when Arsenal needed him the most, scoring a hat-trick against Olympiakos in an away game that the Gunners needed to win by at least two goals.

He then followed up his first treble for the club with his 50th league goal for Arsenal when the Frenchman scored from the spot against Aston Villa, becoming only the seventh player in the North Londoners’ history to reach that milestone.
