Top opposition leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah on Sunday took up the cudgels for his home province Sindh in the face of threats by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, insisting that Sindh was the strongest pillar of the federation.
Shah also criticised the interior minister for threatening the provincial government after it referred to the Sindh Assembly the issue of extending special powers to the paramilitary Rangers.

“Sindh is one of the strongest pillars of the federation and if the pillar shakes, cracks will develop in the federation,” he told reporters in Sukkur.
On Saturday, Chaudhry Nisar warned the Pakistan Peoples Party-led Sindh government “not to malign the federal government and Rangers”.
Commenting on the confessional statement of Dr Asim Hussain, Khursheed Shah said, “If Chaudhry Nisar or I am put under detention for a couple of days, we will confess even uncommitted crimes.”
He pointed out that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had also confessed about money laundering during the tenure of former president Gen Pervez Musharraf.
Appreciating the performance of the Rangers in Sindh, the opposition leader said there are no differences over the extension of Rangers special powers in the province and therefore the federal government should refrain from politicising the issue.
