The police and Pakistan Army arrest 240 suspects in Swabi

SHABQADAR/SWABI: A former official of the levies force from Mohmand Agency was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in his hujra in Haleemzai, Shabqadar Saturday night. Another official was also injured in the same incident.

A police officer told The Express Tribune Rahat Khan was inside his hujra when an unidentified assailant fired at him and ran away from the scene.

Standing outside his hujra was Nawaz Khan, who also injured in the incident and was rushed to the nearby hospital in critical condition.

Search and sweep

At least 80 suspects have been rounded up from Shaheed Banda in Shabqadar Sunday morning, a Khwajawas police official told The Express Tribune. The arrests were made from the area near the Mohmand-Charsadda border.



Police official Murad Khan said the search operation was conducted by the police and other law-enforcement agencies, in which they nabbed 80 suspects and 15 proclaimed offenders. The authorities seized two hand grenades, a number of guns, and five Kalashnikovs. Further investigation is under way.

Search operations will continue throughout Shabqadar.

In Swabi

The police and Pakistan Army conducted a joint search operation in Swabi and arrested 240 suspects.

The operation was conducted in Sheikh Jana, Asota Sharif, Shiva and other areas in Razar tehsil under the supervision of DPO Swabi Javed Iqbal, DSP Ijaz Khan, SP investigation and other DSPs.

As many as 39 pistols, 1,319 bullets, one MP5, 10 SMGs, 27 magazines, five rifles and 11 12-bore rifles were confiscated from arrested suspects.

The operation started Sunday morning and concluded without any untoward incident.
