Rahat Fateh Ali Khan ruled Bollywood’s music scene in 2010 with three hits that took the industry by storm; “Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Jee” from the film Ishqiya, which topped all the Indian music charts of 2010, “Sajda” from My Name Is Khan and “Tere Mast Mast Do Nain” from the blockbuster Dabangg. All three of his songs were amongst the most popular Indian songs of 2010.
Hence, it was no surprise when Khan won Best Playback Singer at the 17th Star Screen Awards, for his hit single “Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Jee.” Last year the singer took over the Indian music industry when he won the same award for his song “Ajj Din Chadeya” on the same platform.
While many agree that the song, “Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Jee” was a the perfect melodious beginning to the year it was Vishal Bharadwaj, the music director that was responsible for roping in Khan to sing the romantic track with such expertise.
The singer who established grounds across the border but has also been voted Pakistan’s favourite playback singer of 2010. Singers all around Pakistan are filled with praise for Khan, Bilal Maqsood of Strings praised him by saying,” Atif Aslam was successful as a playback singer in 2009, but Rahat Fateh Ali Khan took over India in 2010.”
“In 2010 it has been Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for sure. He has been an active musician who has gone to India as well as other countries,” Pakistani music producer Faisal Rafi commented saying Khan was one of the most active musician in Pakistan.
