A returning officer has accepted losing candidate’s application for recounting of votes in union council No 112 of Rawalpindi district. Chaudhry Aamir Waseem, an independent candidate for chairman, had lost the election to another independent candidate by eight votes only during the local government polls held in the district on December 5. Waseem has maintained that a total of 250 votes polled in his favour were rejected by the presiding officer. The Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench has also stopped the election commission from issuing result notification in this regard. Recounting will take place in front of all the candidates. The union council, also known as Mughal, is located near Rawat.
