PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl MPA Mufti Syed Janan filed a writ at the Peshawar High Court to secure royalty on gas and oil for development for his district, Hangu. The writ was filed through his lawyer Essa Khan and the provincial government was named as the respondent. The petitioner pointed out oil and gas was being explored in the southern districts of the province. He said royalty being generated from oil and gas would be spent on development projects if it were given to the districts. “Even though such projects have been designed, the deputy commissioner has not issued funds for development and this has resulted in delays,” he said. The petitioner added the chief secretary had been informed in writing and the issue was even raised on the floor of the provincial assembly. It was later referred to a standing committee.
