In Remembrance: An eye for an eye would make the whole world blind

PESHAWAR: Activists of an NGO, alongside PPP workers, held a candle-light vigil on Friday in memory of slain Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer.

The warmly lit and serene vigil, organised by Aman Tehrik outside Peshawar Railway Station, sent out a powerful message of peace and co-existence. Participants urged for
an end to bigotry, extremism and intolerance, which seem to be slowly engulfing the nation.

They called all Pakistanis to consider peaceful means of resolving differences, and stressed the importance of dialogue in removing misgivings between different groups.

Progress cannot be made if differences are violently silenced with the crutch of a weapon.

Anger and violence are symptoms of a rotting, uncivilized mind and have no place in a cultured and sane society. As a luminary once proclaimed “An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind”.
