Army chief General Raheel Sharif on Thursday met the US Deputy Secretary of State Antony J Blinken at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

During the meeting both the dignitaries discussed matters related to security challenges and reiterated the need of early resumption of reconciliation process to achieve lasting peace in Afghanistan which is so critical for stability in the region, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The deputy secretary acknowledged the sacrifices and appreciated the Pakistan Army’s efforts for peace and stability in the region, the statement added.

The meeting was also attended by US Ambassador to Pakistan David Hale and United Stated Special Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan (SRAP) Richard G Olson.
