ISLAMABAD: The government on Wednesday rebutted allegations made by Reporters Without Borders that measures taken to provide security to journalists, media workers and houses were inadequate, terming the objections as “unfortunate”. In a statement, the government spokesperson said that all necessary steps were being taken to create a congenial atmosphere where media professionals could perform their duties without any fear as it noted that allegations. The spokesperson added that Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid had written to all four chief ministers urging them to provide adequate security to media houses and working journalists. For its part, the federal government has constituted a committee to address security concerns of media workers.
