Chinese foreign minister appreciates progress on Zarb-e-Azb

Wang Yi says the operation helped eliminate insurgency led by the East Turkestan Islamic Movement

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has appreciated progress of Pakistan Army's Operation Zarb-e-Azb, which helped eliminate the insurgency led by the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM).

According to the ISPR, Yi, called on Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Wednesday.

During the meeting, matters of regional security, bilateral defence and security cooperation between the two countries were discussed.

While underlining the importance of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the Chinese minister said CPEC will have significant and long-term impacts on the region, and be beneficial for people of both the countries.

Army chief reiterated Pakistan's commitment to ensure a secure environment for timely completion and subsequent management of the economic corridor.
