The Suleman Khel tribe held a jirga in Khan Kot, Toi Khulla tehsil of Wana, South Waziristan on Tuesday and decided the jirga will punish anyone who tries to disturb peace in the area. All sub-tribes of Suleman Khel tribe, their elders, ulema and tribespeople participated in the jirga.
It was decided at the jirga that those who disrupt peace in the area will not be allowed to live in Toi Khulla. “Also, if locals try to provide shelter to a person who is trying to disrupt peace in the area, they will not be spared. Their houses will be demolished as per rewaj (tradition) and a fine will also be imposed on the person providing refuge to anti-state elements,” a jirga elder said.
Malik Sardar Abbas, who participated in the jirga, told the media, “Anyone who tries to disrupt law and order in the area will be severely punished. Those who collaborate with such people will also face the music.” The tribe wants to cooperate with the government for peace in the area, Abbas added.
The jirga members also demanded the government prioritise development work in the area.
