Army chief lauds efforts of security forces, LEAs

The military brass reviewed the overall law and order in the metropolitan city

KARACHI:
Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif has lauded the services of army, paramilitary, intelligence and law enforcement personnel for a ‘noticeable improvement’ in Karachi’s security situation.

The military brass reviewed the overall law and order in the metropolitan city at a high-level meeting at the Corps Headquarters in Karachi on Monday. The paramilitary Rangers has been leading a surgical operation against terrorists, land mafia and criminals in the port city since September 2013.

Gen Raheel Sharif chaired the meeting, where the security situation in Karachi and the rest of the Sindh province was discussed, according to a statement issued by the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).


While appreciating the efforts of the security and law enforcement agencies for maintaining peace in Karachi, the army chief also congratulated them on the peaceful supervision of the recently concluded third phase of the local government elections.

The meeting was attended by Karachi Corps Commander Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar, ISI chief Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar and DG Rangers Maj Gen Bilal Akbar.
