LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday issued arrest warrants for Federal Ombudsperson for Protection of Women against Harassment at Workplace Yasmeen Abbasi for not appearing before the court on a contempt of court petition. Advocate Saleem Javed had filed the petition seeking action against the ombudsperson for violating a stay order issued by the high court. The counsel submitted that a woman associate of his client had filed a harassment complaint with the ombudsperson. He said the high court had stayed the proceedings on the complaint. He said the ombudsperson had ignored the stay order and continued proceedings on the complaint. The lawyer requested the court to take action against the ombudsperson under the contempt of court law. He said the respondent had not been appearing before the court. Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah issued the arrest warrants and scheduled a hearing for December 16.
